International Student Services (ISS) is responsible for federally-mandated reporting for degree students on the Seattle campus who enroll at UW under an F-1 or J-1 student visa. The ISS is also maintains SEVIS records for F-1 and J-1 UW alumni who remain in the U.S. through post-completion employment benefits. Federal reporting is through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and contribute to the overall SEVIS by Numbers statistics and IIE’s Open Doors annual research on overall international students in the U.S.
The data used to report International Students at UW below comes from the UW’s Student Database and is for informational purposes only. The statistics reported by ISS directly to SEVP may be slightly different than the University’s student database. UW’s reported data includes records for anyone self-reporting a nonimmigrant visa and only those F-1 and J-1 students who are registered at the time of the report. It does not include students who may be changing their visa status or changing to U.S. permanent resident. The following public visualizations have been created using University data but it does not reflect the data reported in the SEVIS immigration system.
