How are Estimated Expenses Calculated?
General Notes
- Tuition amounts used above are based on the 2024-2025 quarterly tuition & fee rates per the UW Office of Planning & Budgeting Tuition & Fees Dashboards.
- Living expenses are calculated from the 2024-2025 Student Budget Nine-Month Expenses. (Textbooks and course supplies, rent, utilities and food, personal and miscellaneous, and transportation). Living expenses for all undergraduate students are calculated using the “Living on/off campus” rate.
- Dependent expenses are calculated from the 2024-25 Student Budget Nine-Month Expenses.
Notes on graduate student tuition & fees:
- International graduate tuition and fees listed on this page are based on the Tier I level. Review the Graduate & Professional Tuition Dashboard for Tier I, II, or III specific tuition & fee rates or search by your specific program. Professional programs (DDS, Law, Medicine, and Pharmacy) use their own tuition rates as well as any fee-based programs through the Continuum College.
- Academic Student Employee (ASE) positions such as Research, Teaching, or Staff Assistant positions generally receive some type of tuition reimbursement or waiver and health insurance through Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP). ASE’s are still required to pay the Services & Activities fee, IMA bond fee, and Facilities Renovation fee.
- Annual tuition amounts do not include summer quarter. Review the Graduate & Professional Tuition Dashboard for your specific program for summer quarter tuition rates.
