Student Legal Services is an on-campus law office that provides a safe and confidential space for all UW-Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma students who have legal questions or concerns. SLS offers free 40-minute consultations on a broad range of issues such as immigration, landlord/tenant, name and gender marker changes, contracts, discrimination, obtaining a protection order, traffic tickets, criminal cases, and other legal issues. Students can also hire SLS for ongoing representation for a low hourly rate.
Our mission at SLS is to play a dual role in the University and Student Life by providing broad legal services for students to ensure that no legal issue prevents them from achieving their academic goals and graduating. We strive to work with students most in need of our services, especially students from underrepresented and marginalized student communities. SLS is located in Husky Union Building (HUB) 306.
Our Services
At the Student Legal Services we believe it is important that legal support is accessible to all. That is why we offer:
40-minute FREE legal consultations
By filling out an SLS intake form, all UW students can schedule a free legal consultation that can take place in person or over zoom.
Low-cost to free legal representation
After receiving a consultation with us, students may hire SLS for ongoing legal representation for a low hourly rate. Students facing financial hardship may apply for a fee waiver/ fee reduction and have their legal fees waived.
