Overview
You can request permission to register part-time or take the quarter off for a documented medical reason. Accepted Healthcare providers must be a licensed medical doctor, psychiatrist, doctor of osteopathy, licensed psychologist, or clinical psychologist.
How to Apply
It’s important that you that you consult your health provider if you are considering applying for a Medical RCL. They will need to provide a letter of recommendation for your RCL request. Review the Medical RCL Letter Template, if needed. Letters may be written only by accepted healthcare providers. If your provider is a Registered Nurse Practitioner (RNP) or another medical professional, there must be a second signature from an accepted healthcare provider. The letter must be on official letterhead and/or have an official seal to be approved by an ISS adviser.
Submit the RCL- Medical Reasons request through the MyISSS portal. You must upload a copy of your medical RCL letter.
Allow 2-3 weeks for ISS processing. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email. At this point, you are allowed to drop your classes as needed.
Other Considerations
- Medical RCLs can only be authorized up to 4 quarters.
- You must submit a Medical RCL authorization request for each quarter. It cannot be authorized for more than 1 quarter at a time.
