With the holiday break underway, we would like to share a few important reminders and updates. First, ISS staff are working remotely this week and next. During this time, you can reach out to us through virtual advising, email, or online chat. The office will reopen for in-person services on January 5.

As you prepare for the coming winter quarter, please keep in mind that full-time enrollment is required as part of F and J immigration rules, and there are limitations on how many online courses may count toward your enrollment requirements. Reviewing your course schedule early can help prevent issues later.

Lastly, several new federal policies have also been announced that may affect international students. More information is included in this newsletter, and you are encouraged to read these updates carefully.

Travel Restrictions Expanded
|
On December 16, 2025, the White House announced an update to the Presidential Proclamation titled, “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States” which further expands the list of countries whose nationals will be restricted on entering the U.S. The travel restrictions should not affect students already in the U.S. or those students with a valid F-1 or J-1 visa prior to the effective date of the updated proclamation.
