Welcome to the start of a new academic year! Whether you’re joining UW for the first time or returning to continue your studies, we’re excited to have you here. For new students, we especially encourage you to check out CIRCLE’s International Welcome Programs (IWP), which are a great way to meet other students, connect with campus resources, and build community.

As you begin the quarter, please take time to review your enrollment requirements as an F-1 or J-1 student to ensure you remain in status throughout the year. ISS will also be hosting a F-1 General Employment Workshop this quarter, where F-1 students can learn more about on- and off-campus work options available to them. Remember: you can always reach out to ISS via email or advising if you have any questions.

J-1 On campus employment
Students on the J-1 visa who plan to work on campus must report their employment to ISS prior to beginning their work. Please submit the On-campus Employment request in MyISSS.

ISS Processing Times
Just a reminder that ISS takes 2-3 weeks to process requests submitted in MyISSS. Please plan ahead so that your requests can be completed by the date needed.
|

Please do not submit a request twice as this only slows down the process.

Each Autumn quarter the ISHIP Office receives many questions about enrolling in ISHIP, getting your LifeWise insurance card, and questions about the coverage ISHIP provides. Here’s what you can expect from ISHIP as you start Autumn quarter.
