The academic year is almost over, and we know many students are making plans for summer. If you are graduating this quarter, be sure to apply for OPT as early as possible if you plan to work in the United States after graduation. If you will continue your studies at the UW and need additional time to complete your program, remember to request in MyISSS an I-20 or DS-2019 extension if your current document expires soon.

If you plan to travel outside the United States during the summer break, take a moment to check your travel signature before you leave. Travel signatures are valid for a limited time, and students who need a new signature should submit their request before traveling.

International students are such an important part of the UW and bring valuable perspectives, talents, and experiences that strengthen our campus community every day, and we want to share your stories.

International Student Spotlight: Elissa Khodikian
|
Elissa, a graduate student in Biology, researches how certain mosquito species adapt to saline environments in the Pacific Northwest. Originally from Lebanon and later studying in Canada, Elissa came to UW to continue her research under Dr. Andrea Durant. Her story highlights her passion for evolutionary biology and the important role mentorship and community have played in shaping her experience at UW.

International Student Spotlight: Selena Liu
|
Selena, an undergraduate student from China, has embraced every opportunity at the University of Washington. Studying Human Centered Design & Engineering with a minor in global health, Selena’s interests range from design, mental health research, and entrepreneurship to dance, study abroad, and interdisciplinary honors coursework. Through creativity, curiosity, and community, Selena’s story demonstrates what it means to fully embrace the undergraduate experience at UW.
