We hope you’re staying warm and dry as we move through the tail end of winter here in Seattle. Spring is just around the corner, and the cherry blossoms at the University of Washington will be out before we know it. As the season changes, it’s also a good time to think about a few important deadlines and plan ahead.

The federal tax filing deadline is April 15. All students are required to file even if no income was earned. We encourage you to attend this week’s tax workshop with the UW Federal Tax Clinic to learn more about your filing requirements and get your questions answered.

For those graduating this spring, the OPT application period will be opening on March 5th. To get started, join our OPT information session on February 27th, where advisors ISS advisors will walk you through eligibility, timelines, and the application process.

Premium Processing Fee to Increase March 1st
USCIS will increase premium processing fees for Forms I-539 and I-765 effective March 1, 2026, affecting F and J applicants.
|
|
These changes reflect inflation from June 2023 through June 2025 and are authorized under the USCIS Stabilization Act, which allows fee adjustments every two years.
