While on OPT or STEM OPT, you are required to report certain information to the U.S. government either through the SEVP Portal or the UW MyISSS portal. This information includes:
|
- employment details and changes
- your U.S. physical address
- your U.S. phone number
- your email
Students on OPT are allowed 90 days of unemployment while those on STEM OPT are granted an additional 60 days of unemployment. If you do not report employment or if you exceed the allowable days of unemployment, the U.S. government may terminate your immigration record.

Employment Details
Students on Post-completion OPT may report their employment details directly through the SEVP Portal. However, if you are more than 10 days late of reporting, you will be asked to contact your school DSO. In this case, please submit the appropriate request through your MyISSS portal. This includes New Employment and End of Employment requests.
|
|
Students on STEM OPT must report all employment information to UW through the MyISSS portal instead of the SEVP Portal. This information must be reviewed by ISS before being submitted to the U.S. government's SEVP Portal. This includes New Employment, End of Employment, and Material Changes requests.

Contact Information
|
While on OPT and STEM OPT, you must keep your contact information updated through the SEVP Portal. This includes your U.S. address, phone number, and email. You should be able to update this directly through the SEVP Portal yourself. However, if you have problems doing so, you can submit the Contact Information Update for OPT Students request in MyISSS, and an ISS advisor will update the information on your behalf.

Can't Access the SEVP Portal?
|
If you forgot to create your SEVP Portal account or have trouble accessing it, ISS can help! Please log into your MyISSS account with UW and submit the SEVP Portal Help request.
