SUMMER QUARTER: WEEK 1

WELCOME NEW HUSKIES!

Welcome to the first day of summer quarter and to all of the new international students starting your UW journey this quarter. We are so happy you are here!

International Student Services is here to help you learn about the immigration rules so that you can successfully complete your academic program. You do not need to everything about everything today - we are here to help you throughout your time at the UW and help you understand the immigration rules to maintain your F or J visa status.

The ISS website and your MyISSS immigration portal are great places to begin and get answers to many of your questions.

Good luck this quarter, and be sure to read all emails from uwiss@uw.edu -- that is the main way we will contact you with important information and updates.

Go Huskies!

New This Week

SUMMER QUARTER ENROLLMENT

  • If summer quarter will be your first quarter at the UW, you must be enrolled full-time (12 credits for undergraduates, 10 credits for graduate students). Consult the time schedule or an academic adviser in your department for more information or help finding the right courses.
  • New to the UW or to a new degree program starting summer quarter? Complete the ISS Check-In process by accessing your MyISSS account and completing the Check-In Request. Make sure you have updated your local mailing address through MyUW before you complete the Check-In.

SUMMER TRAVEL

  • If you are planning to travel during the summer, be sure to review your travel signature validity. We expect that many students will need an updated travel signature over the summer or in preparation for travel before autumn quarter. Plan ahead and submit your request now to beat the rush.

SPRING GRADUATES

  • Congratulations to all of the 2022 UW graduates! We wish you the best in your future endeavors. The ISS staff are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing where your next chapter takes you.
  • Review the Graduation Checklist if you have not already done so and contact us if you have questions about your SEVIS immigration record.
  • Diplomas and final transcripts are handled by the Office of the University Registrar. Visit Graduation and Diplomas for more information.

PROCESSING REQUESTS & EMAILS

  • ISS staff continue to receive a very high volume of emails and MyISSS requests. With the end of spring quarter and the number of requests for travel signatures, CPT, OPT, and Transfer Outs, requests are taking 2-3 weeks to process.
  • We are unable to accommodate requests to expedite requests. All requests are equally important and prioritizing one causes delays for others. Continue to monitor your MyISSS profile for updates, clarification requests, and notification once your request has been completed.

anyone she would be imprisoned for 7 to 10 years.

WHY AM I BEING ALERTED?
We at the UW Police want you to be safe and do not want this happening to you!

POLICE WILL NEVER DEMAND MONEY

WHAT STEPS DO I TAKE?
  • HANG UP; stop talking with the person asking you for money
  • DO NOT SEND MONEY or gift card information to strangers
