ISS & ISHIP Hours this week

Welcome to the J-1 Student Newsletter!

For years, our team at ISS has wanted to create a newsletter just for you! We know that much of the information in the regular ISS Newsletter has often focused on F-1 student issues which is why we've started this one! Every Monday, we'll be sending out the weekly newletter to you with ONLY information that is applicable to YOUR J-1 status. Thanks for reading!

MAKE-UP J-1 IMMIGRATION ORIENTATION SESSION

This Thursday, 10/13 at 12 PM ISS is hosting a make-up J-1 immigration session. This virtual presentation is designed for new J-1 students to help them understand the responsibilities of the J-1 student visa. Please join us if you missed the in-person session on September 22!

ISHIP Office is Hiring a Student Assistant!

The ISHIP Office has posted a listing on Handshake for a student assistant to join their staff. The position is considered on-campus employment and international students are eligible to apply!

  • Virtual Advising Days: October 13, November 3, and December 1.

REMINDERS

Submitting Requests to ISS

If you need to request a DS-2019 extension, need on-campus work authorization, or are applying for Academic Training, you'll need to do this by submitting a request in MyISSS. ISS doesn't process any of these authorizations on the spot or via email so please make sure to submit your requests early!

Working on Campus? Request Authorization!

All on-campus and off-campus work authorization must be approved by an ISS advisor and reported to the government database. We've seen very few requests for work authorization lately which means, we assume you're not working. If you're planning to work on campus, request authorization today!

Baking with ISS!

When the ISS staff was asked what they like to bake during autumn quarter, they shared a few recipes!
