Welcome New Students!

New students are here on campus AND they are now receiving this ISS newsletter. This weekly newsletter contains all of the important information you need to know to ensure you maintain your status. Please make sure to read it each week!

NEW STUDENT F-1 General Employment Workshop

Join us this Thursday, October 13th from 5 PM to 5:30 PM in ECE 105! We will be having an F-1 General Employment Workshop. This workshop is for new students or other F-1 students who haven't started working in the U.S. yet. In the workshop you can learn about on-campus employment, CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT!

F-1 Employment Video Learning Series

The International Student Advising Team made some videos over the summer to help you understand common F-1 student employment topics! Please watch them to learn about these employment options.

STEM OPT Information Sessions

If you're interested in the 24-Month STEM Extension, join our group advising session this Friday! The session is on Zoom and our advisor, Justin Mellish, is excited to share valuable information about the STEM extension with all of you.

ISHIP Office is Hiring a Student Assistant!

The ISHIP Office has posted a listing on Handshake for a student assistant to join their staff. The position is considered on-campus employment and international students are eligible to apply!

Drop-In Advising Information

In-Person Advising

  • Days: Monday through Thursday
  • Time: 2 PM to 4 PM
  • Location: Schmitz Hall 490

Virtual Advising

  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Time: 9 AM to 11 AM
  • Location: Zoom! Review the ISS Events Calendar to confirm availability and find the link!

F-1 Student Travel Signature Clinics

F-1 students can begin attending travel signatures clinics in November. For more information about getting a travel signature, review our website.

REMINDERS

Submitting Requests to ISS

If you know that you need to extend your I-20, request a reduced course load, or apply for CPT authorization, submit a request in ISS. Sending emails to ISS doesn't create a task that we can process for you. Submitting requests in MyISSS saves you time AND collects the information ISS needs to confirm you are maintaining your status.

Click Submit

When you're submitting requests to MyISSS remember to CLICK SUBMIT! We've had students forget to submit their tasks which causes them extra stress.
ISS advisors will not see your pending requests in MyISSS unless you CLICK SUBMIT.

ISS & ISHIP Early Fall Quarter Hours

The International Student Services office is open for regular business hours. You can visit our front desk Monday through Thursday, 1 PM to 4 PM.
The ISHIP Office has a virtual front desk Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 11 AM. An advisor is available to meet with you about insurance Monday through Thursday.
