Plan Ahead: processing delays & limited advising September 9-20

We are excited to welcome all students back to campus, including over 2,000 new international students joining the UW this fall.

The ISS staff will participate in FIUTS Welcome Weeks orientation programs from September 9 – 20.

Fewer advisors will be available during this time, resulting in delayed processing and limited services.

Please plan ahead and submit requests on or before September 6 to avoid any delays.

Processing Times & Limited Services Details:

  • ISS reception desk will remain open for document pick-up and drop off
  • “Have a Question” email responses may take more than 2 business days
  • Processing requests submitted between September 9-20 may take up to 15 business days
  • ISS cannot accommodate expedited processing requests – please plan ahead!
  • ISS advisors will not be available for appointments September 9 – 20
  • Autumn quarter graduates planning to apply for OPT should review our OPT application timeline
  • Summer quarter graduates planning to apply for OPT should submit an OPT application as soon as possible to avoid delays
  • STEM OPT I-20 requests with an OPT end date in September should submit a request as soon as possible
  • Time sensitive requests will be reviewed and prioritized by ISS staff

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we help welcome new students to the UW.
