How to Drop a Class During Your Summer Vacation Quarter

Many students register part-time during their annual vacation quarter in summer.

If you are eligible for your annual vacation quarter this summer

To drop one class:

  1. Review the Office of the Registrar’s drop deadlines to determine if you are allowed to drop the course.
  2. If the drop deadlines allow you to drop, next please complete the Registration Office’s “Registration Transaction” form. Be sure to complete both the “Student Section” and the “#4 International Student Course Drop” sections.
  3. Next, upload the completed Registration Transaction Form to our ISS website so we can sign and route the completed form to the Registration Office for you.
  4. Please allow 2-3 business days for ISS to sign and route the form to the Registration Office. We will request they backdate the drop to the day we received your request.

If you are not eligible for the vacation quarter

Not all students are eligible for the annual vacation quarter in summer.

Examples include:

  • Students approved for an alternative vacation quarter in the prior autumn, winter, or spring quarters
  • Students in their first quarter of their degree program at UW in summer

Review our website for more information about the annual vacation quarter.

If you are not eligible for the annual vacation quarter–meaning that you must be registered full-time this summer quarter–and you want to drop below full-time enrollment, complete our “Course Drop Eligibility Assessment.”
