Get Your Travel Signature Before International Travel

International Travel Plans During Thanksgiving or Winter Break?

Get Your Travel Signature Now!

If you plan to travel internationally during the upcoming Thanksgiving or Winter break, do not wait until the last minute to get your travel signature from ISS.

Travel Signatures Take Up to 10 Business Days to Process!

  1. Check your travel signature expiration date on page 2 of your I-20. Travel signatures are valid for one year as long as you are a continuing student.
  2. If your travel signature is expired, or you do not have one yet, submit your I-20 to the ISS front desk between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
  3. Travel signature processing generally takes up to 10 business days. Slightly expedited processing might be possible, but not same-day, except in emergency cases.
  4. Review the Travel & Visas section on our website before you go! You will need to be prepared to present all the necessary documents to the Customs and Border Protection officer when you return to the U.S.

Students Graduating Autumn Quarter 2019:

If autumn quarter 2019 is your final quarter of study at UW, and you do not have a pending or approved OPT application, your UW I-20 and F-1 visa are not valid for reentry to the U.S. after December 13, 2019.

Review the Grace Period and Travel section on our website for more information.

Students who apply for OPT:

The travel rules after graduation for OPT applicants depend on several factors: the status of your OPT application and whether you have a job/training offer. For more information, please see the “Travel and OPT” guidelines.

We wish you safe travels!
