DROPPING A SUMMER QUARTER CLASS

International students wanting to drop a summer quarter course must complete the online Advisor Assisted Drop form. Once this form is submitted to the Registrar's Office, the ISS will receive an email. An ISS advisor will review the request and will notify the Registrar's Office whether you are eligible to drop the course. Go to the Current Quarter Drop page and submit the Advisor Assisted Drop request online if you need to drop a summer quarter class. The process request process is all online.

TRAVEL SIGNATURE REMINDER

Don't forget to request an updated travel signature if you are either currently outside the U.S. or you plan to travel internationally before autumn quarter classes begin. Continuing students or alumni on OPT must have an updated travel signature to re-enter the U.S. For current students, check that the signature on page 2 of your I-20 was signed within the past 12 months. For alumni on OPT, your travel signature must be dated within the past 6 months. Submit an online Travel Signature request through your MyISSS profile if you need an updated travel signature.

UPDATING YOUR LOCAL & PERMANENT ADDRESS

We want to remind you to make sure your local U.S. address and your permanent foreign address are correct and up to date. With the implementation of MyISSS, there have been changes to how to update your address. Here's what you need to know:
  • Report via MyUW: Current students should change your U.S./local address through your MyUW account. Any changes made to your local address will be updated system wide at the UW and will be reported to ISS so we can pass the information on to SEVIS per federal immigration requirements. You can also update your permanent address through MyUW. This no longer is required to be a foreign address and will be your permanent address in university systems for all UW specific matters, including after graduation.
  • Report via MyISSS: Use the 'Contact Information Update' request form to submit changes to your permanent foreign address. All students in the U.S. under the F and J visa categories are required to maintain a permanent address outside of the U.S. per federal regulations. Use the MyISSS portal to update changes to your permanent address outside the U.S. so ISS can pass it to SEVIS per federal regulations.
  • Students on OPT: Report changes to your local address directly to SEVIS using the SEVP portal. If you do not have access to the portal, use the MyISSS 'SEVP Portal Help' request to report your updated address to the ISS. We will pass it to SEVIS on your behalf. You can also use this same form to request help with the SEVP portal if you do not have a password or need to reset your password.

REMINDERS

Be Aware of SCAMS

The ISS continues to hear from students who have been targeted by scams. The U.S. government, foreign governments, and other organizations related to your immigration status will NEVER demand money or information and WILL NOT ask for private, secure information over the phone or email. This is a SCAM.

WHAT STEPS DO I TAKE?
  • HANG UP; stop talking with the person asking you for money
  • DO NOT SEND MONEY or gift card information to strangers
  • DO NOT give them private data like your passport number, account info, parent's info, etc.
  • TELL someone you trust
  • REPORT it to the UW Police
  • ALERT your Consulate or Embassy and your family

SIGN UP FOR UW ALERT

The University of Washington has developed UW Alert to disseminate information via email, text messages, loudspeakers, website banners and other means, as needed, to keep the campus community informed during emergencies and situations that might disrupt normal operations.

We strongly encourage all students to sign up for UW Alert today!
