SUMMER IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST (PNW)

We hope you are enjoying the PNW summer in the Seattle area. The ISS staff want to share some of our favorite things to do or places to visit in the summer.
  • Attend one of the many festivals or events around the Greater Seattle neighborhoods, especially the ones with live music!
  • Kayaking on one of the many lakes around the Seattle area.
  • Browsing the Farmer's Market in your neighborhood or a nearby city.
  • Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle or Point Defiance in Tacoma.
  • Favorite parks, beaches, or places to visit:
    • Golden Gardens, Alki Beach, Gasworks, Richmond Beach, Greenlake
    • Whidbey Island, La Conner, San Juan Islands, Bainbridge Island
Stay safe and be sure to drink lots of water during these hot days this week. If you are in the Greater Seattle area, be alert to signs of heat exhaustion and try to find ways to stay cool. If you do not have access to air conditioning, or are uncomfortable at home, there are free cooling centers throughout King County where you can rest.
