SUMMER QUARTER: WEEK 4 (7/11/2022)

FULL-TIME ENROLLMENT FOR SUMMER QUARTER
  • If summer quarter is your first quarter at the UW, you must be enrolled full-time
  • If summer quarter is your final quarter at the UW, you must also be enrolled full-time. Review the Possible Exceptions to Full-Time Enrollment to see if you qualify. Take action to request a reduced course load if you qualify for an exception.
  • If you took an alternative vacation quarter earlier in the academic year, you must be enrolled full-time for 3 consecutive quarters before you are eligible to take another term off. You need to enroll full-time for summer quarter unless you qualify for a Possible Exceptions to Full-Time Enrollment .
  • Undergraduate students must be enrolled in 12 credits to be considered full-time. Graduate students must be enrolled in 10 credits for full-time status.

SEVIS RECORD TERMINATION/CANCELLATION DATE

If you are required to register full-time for summer quarter and you have not taken steps to apply for an Exception to Full-Time Enrollment, your SEVIS record is at risk of termination or cancellation. The ISS staff are required by law to take action on your SEVIS immigration record if you have failed to meet the requirements of your status.

We have been in contact via email with students should be enrolled full-time but are not yet meeting the requirements. We will be required to terminate or cancel your SEVIS record on July 20, 2022 if you are not enrolled full-time or qualify for an exception.

ADVISOR ASSISTED DROP & LATE COURSE DROP

Week 3 of the quarter marked the beginning of the Late Course Drop period. This means that there are additional steps involved if you need to drop courses.

Be Aware of SCAMS

The ISS continues to hear from students who have been targeted by scams. The U.S. government, foreign governments, and other organizations related to your immigration status will NEVER demand money or information and WILL NOT ask for private, secure information over the phone or email. This is a SCAM.

WHAT STEPS DO I TAKE?
  • HANG UP; stop talking with the person asking you for money
  • DO NOT SEND MONEY or gift card information to strangers
  • DO NOT give them private data like your passport number, account info, parent's info, etc.
  • TELL someone you trust
  • REPORT it to the UW Police
  • ALERT your Consulate or Embassy and your family

STEM OPT?

Don't forget to submit your 6 month validation report on time! The request form is available in the Requests & Documents section of your MyISSS account and is very simple! Students needing to submit the 12 and 24 month reports will also need to submit their I-983.

The University of Washington has developed UW Alert to disseminate information via email, text messages, loudspeakers, website banners and other means, as needed, to keep the campus community informed during emergencies and situations that might disrupt normal operations.

Make sure you have requested authorization with your AROs in ISS! An ISS Advisor will need to report your on-campus employment in SEVIS. You can request this authorization by completing our form.

The ISS front desk can help answer general questions, help navigate ISS web resources, and troubleshoot MyISSS login or access questions. There are no drop in advising hours and ISS advisors are not available at the front desk.
