SUMMER QUARTER: WEEK 2

New This Week

SUMMER QUARTER ENROLLMENT

  • New to the UW or to a new degree program starting summer quarter? Complete the ISS Check-In process by accessing your MyISSS account and completing the Check-In Request form. Make sure you have updated your local mailing address through MyUW before you complete the Check-In.
  • If summer quarter is your first quarter at the UW, you must be enrolled full-time (12 credits for undergraduates, 10 credits for graduate students). Consult the time schedule or an academic adviser in your department for more information or help finding the right courses.
  • If summer quarter is your final quarter at the UW, you must also be enrolled full-time (12 credits for undergraduates, 10 credits for graduate students). Review the Possible Exceptions to Full-Time Enrollment to see if you qualify. Take action if you qualify for an exception and you need to request a reduced course load.

SUMMER HEAT IN SEATTLE

This week, the Seattle-area is experiencing a heatwave. For students in the Greater Seattle area, be alert to signs of heat exhaustion and try to find ways to stay cool.

If you do not have access to air conditioning, or are uncomfortable at home, there are free cooling centers throughout King County where you can rest.

JULY FOURTH HOLIDAY CLOSURE

All offices at the University of Washington, including the ISS, will be closed on Monday, July 4. ISS staff and all services will be unavailable that day. July 4 will not be considered a business day for processing. There will also be no class instruction on July 4. We hope you enjoy a relaxing day off.

ISS EMAIL SCAM

The ISS sent a notification last week about an email scam using our uwissnoreply@uw.edu account. The email scam was not sent by the ISS and is not real. If you received an email like this, please do not reply or click on any links. We recommend you report this scam to UW Police Department.

ISS will not send you an email asking for money, request screenshots of your bank account, or demand bring proof of funding be brought in person to our office. We would also never demand money to fix your immigration record. All ISS immigration requests and documents are processed through the MyISSS platform and do not ask you to come in person. Any documents requested related to an immigration request can be submitted to ISS directly through your MyISSS portal.
