NEW THIS WEEK:

START OF QUARTER REMINDERS

Welcome to a new quarter! As you return to campus after a refreshing spring break, keep in mind these important reminders:
  • If you are not already, enroll full time. Undergraduate students are required to enroll in at least 12 credits; Graduate students must enroll in at least 10 credits.
  • Review important deadlines for registration, adding/dropping courses & tuition payments in the academic calendar.

IN-PERSON ADVISING APPOINTMENTS

Students can now book in-person appointments with ISS advisors. Use our booking calendar and select a meeting type labeled 'in-person' to meet with an advisor in Schmitz Hall.

CAMPUS MASKING POLICY

Masks will become optional inside most University facilities starting March 28. Masks will be required in clinical and other health-care settings and on public transportation. The UW Face Covering Policy will be updated to reflect this change.

In her email on March 8, President Cauce encourages campus community members to wear masks during the first two weeks of spring quarter, particularly if they will be traveling over spring break. Wearing a well-fitting mask is still encouraged, though not required.

Here are some helpful links:

J-1 ON-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT

Make sure you have requested authorization with your AROs in ISS! An ISS Advisor will need to report your on-campus employment in SEVIS. You can request this authorization by completing our form.

SIGN UP FOR UW ALERT

The University of Washington has developed UW Alert to disseminate information via email, text messages, loudspeakers, website banners and other means, as needed, to keep the campus community informed during emergencies and situations that might disrupt normal operations.

We strongly encourage all students to sign up for UW Alert today!

GLACIER TAX PREPARATION SOFTWARE

It's tax season and we know that you probably have many questions! The deadline to file taxes is April 15, 2022.
  • ISS has a website with tax information and links to the Glacier Tax Prep (GTP) software. You may review it here: https://iss.washington.edu/resources/money-matters/tax-information/
  • Please do not use off-campus software. Most of the software you can purchase online or in the store is designed for U.S. citizens and will not work for most international students. This software also does not check for tax treaties with your country of citizenship.
  • Students who used Glacier Tax Prep last year may have learned that they can now file taxes as a “resident alien for tax purposes.” If this is you, you may file using software designed for U.S. citizens and residents.
ISS advisors are not tax experts and cannot answer individual tax questions. We provide Glacier Tax Prep as a courtesy to assist you with the process. Any specific tax questions should be addressed to Glacier.
