ISS & ISHIP Hours this week
ISS advisor, Jo Anne Marie Ancheta, wearing a white shirt, glasses, and hoop earrings

Congrats to ISS advisor, Jo Anne Marie!

Your ISS advisor, Jo Anne Marie Ancheta won the Rising Star Award from NAFSA Region I, our professional organization! Jo Anne Marie's family immigrated from the Philippines in the 1980s and she remembers the stories of the various struggles her family had when they first came to the U.S. These stories help her when she advises students. She likes connecting to students as they study away from home and enjoys serving as a resource for them. Congrats, Jo Anne Marie!

"No one is going to give you free money."

This past week, we learned about a new scam that may impact you. Students received checks in the mail that were fraudulent. Leana, one of our advisors, shared that "no one is going to give you free money." If someone is asking to give or get money from you, don't follow through with them.

OPT Information Session this Friday, 11/4

This Friday, please join Leana and Ivonne for our OPT Information Session on Zoom. These live presentation sessions give you valuable information about OPT. You'll also have a chance to ask questions at the end of the session!

Happy Halloween!!!

Three of your ISS advisors had some fun today dressing up like their favorite emojis. Next time you meet with Justin, Ivonne, or Alisa, ask them to share more about their chosen emoji!
