Replacing your I-20 or DS-2019

Overview

If your I-20 or DS-2019 is lost, damaged or stolen, the International Student Services (ISS) can issue a replacement document.

Procedure for requesting a new I-20/DS-2019:

  1. Complete a Replacement Document Request Form and submit it to ISS.
  2. Allow one week for processing.
  3. You will receive an email from your ISS adviser when your new document is ready for pick-up.

If you need to replace your passport contact your country's consulate. If you need to replace your I-94 card, visit the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website or contact your ISS adviser for more information. Note that if any of your documents were stolen, you should report the theft to the local police and obtain a copy of the police report.

If you are outside the U.S., note that ISS only mails documents by standard airmail. If you would like your new I-20 or DS-2019 sent by express mail, you have the following options:

1. Submit a Credit Card Authorization Form for ISS Express Mail to ISS. The express mail amount will be charged to your credit card.
2. Arrange for a friend to pick up the document from ISS on your behalf. You must email your primary ISS adviser with the name of your friend so he/she can be authorized to pick up the document. Your friend is then responsible for mailing the new document to you.
3. (Graduate students) Contact your academic department to see if they are willing to pick up the document from ISS and express mail it to you.
