Notice of the Filing of an Application for Permanent Employment Certification
Overview
In the event the selected candidate is a foreign national who needs the permanent residence process, the Application for Permanent Employment Certification must contain evidence that the position announcement was posted for ten consecutive business days at the place of employment in a conspicuous location (e.g., on the bulletin board outside the academic department's administrative office). Additionally, UW departments that use in-house media (such as a departmental newsletter) for recruitment purposes must post the notice in those venues as well. The notice must be posted between 30 and 180 days before the Application for Permanent Employment Certification is filed with the Department of Labor. The last day of the posting must be at least 30 days prior to filing the Application to provide sufficient time for interested persons to submit, if they so choose, documentary evidence bearing on the Application.

The "In-House Media" notice
The department must post the notice of the filing of the Application for Permanent Employment Certification in any in-house media normally used for recruitment purposes and forward to ISS documentation that the notice was posted in the in-house media. An example of "in-house media" is a departmental newsletter, whether electronic or printed, which normally publishes job announcements as a means of encouraging employees to apply for job openings within the organization. (The UW's human resources website, which outreaches world-wide, is not considered in-house media.) If positions similar to the one in question are not advertised in in-house media, only the "bulletin board" posting described above is required.
